In what many regard the most beautiful part of Devon; eight miles from the coast, in the ancient Parish Buckerell, the Deer Park may be found. It is 15 minutes off the M5, 20 minutes from Exeter Airport, and a short hop from the nearby train station.
Inside the Georgian walls of The Deer Park Country House Hotel, history doesn’t just echo; it booms. Large fireplaces, mahogany, a vast sweeping staircase and an original leaded window in the bar mentioned in the hotel’s Grade 2 listing are just some features of this quintessentially English Country House. You’ll find rooms decorated with elegance and finesse, and an Orangery flooded with natural daylight. The house provides unique backdrops, from the largest collection of sporting memorabilia in the UK, to The Motor House with a collection of sought-after classic cars. It includes a 1930s Chevrolet Universal Phaeton featured in a Poirot film – the only one of its kind in the country, and a 1958 Jaguar that was the official car for the press release and was present at the Geneva Motorshow in 1957.
The 18th century mansion is set within 80 acres of glorious grounds, including an Italian parterre, a walled garden full of edible delights and a secret garden. The grounds provide the perfect setting for romantic stories and include a handmade lovers’ swing and magical luxury thatched treehouse.
From intimate productions to large-scale events, the house works perfectly for exclusive use and significant investment has gone into creating backdrops that can be easily transformed for a variety of productions.
The discreet team of 60 will adapt to any situation, and have experience looking after TV and film crews. The Deer Park are members of the Historic Houses Association and has hosted Escape to the Country on a number of occasions, and other productions.
There are 32 bedrooms available, including The Old Squash Court – external self-catering accommodation. The Deer Park has a double AA rosette, free parking is available on site, and high-speed Wi-Fi is available.
