The Royal College of Physicians

Rich in history, yet designed for the needs of today, the Royal College of Physicians is housed in an elegant, award winning, Grade 1 listed, modern building, located in an attractive setting overlooking Regent’s Park in the heart of London.

The College is situated only minutes away from Great Portland Street, Warren Street, and Regent’s Park tube stations and is conveniently accessible for Kings Cross, Euston and Paddington stations, as well as the St. Pancras Euro star terminal and has links to all major London airports.

The impressive portfolio of purpose-designed facilities include auditoriums, exhibition, meeting and dining spaces with a good mixture of old and new styles to suit all tastes. The building has an atmosphere of space and light, with stylish, modern architecture and the Council Chamber with its unique domed roof, curved walls and hidden circle of skylights, is an ideal setting for meetings and presentations. There are also a number of smaller, more traditional rooms which contrast with the building’s contemporary style, such as the Censors’ room which has a magnificent chandelier and Spanish Oak panelling dating from 1674.

From the entrance of the building, the impressive split-level white Marble Hall is flanked on one side by two-story plate glass windows overlooking the College’s medicinal garden and from where you can look up to the galleries above. The squared spiral of the flying staircase leads up to the grand Dorchester Library, which houses some of the Colleges collection of over 50,000 antiquarian books and is ideal for drinks receptions, wedding ceremonies, dinners and meetings, while the attractive Osler Room with its superb views over the Georgian Nash terraces and garden can accommodate up to 300 guests for a variety of events. On a summer’s evening, the College garden is the perfect setting for al fresco dining!.

Adjacent to the garden, the recently re-furbished William Harvey House, a Grade 1 listed Nash Terrace building, boasts 18 en-suite bedrooms and a sitting room with large windows overlooking the cobbled St Andrews Place. The new contemporary décor reflects the cool, classic colours and fabrics of the Regency period.

The facilities are further enhanced by the College’s unique physic garden and small museum status. Bespoke tours of the Heritage collection, architecture or medicinal garden can be arranged, making every occasion truly memorable.
