The University of Exeter

The University of Exeter boasts a unique portfolio of venues, from historical houses and chapels to technology-rich lecture theatres and laboratories.

Set amidst 300 acres of Green Flag awarded gardens, the University’s venues provide an ideal location for all manner of tv and movie filming.

Reed Hall is an Italianate mansion dating back to the 1890’s. Inside the house you’ll find a selection of sympathetically styled meeting rooms, many with original features and an impressive sweeping staircase. The house itself is surrounded by stunning botanical greenery, a sunken garden and feature pond.

At the heart of campus lies the flagship Forum building. With feature glass entrances at each end and panels in its unique ceilings, natural light floods this dynamic space. An inspirational space, the Forum featured as the Wessex Police HQ and law court in BBC drama, Broadchurch.

The Great Hall, a large auditorium holding up to 1800 is a vast space used regularly for gigs and events.

Halls of residence on campus range from original historical buildings and dining halls to modern, self-contained apartment blocks within small villages. Holland Hall features a glass-fronted dining room offering sweeping views across the Exe valley.

The smaller St Lukes campus dates back to 1854. As you walk through the arches of the traditional North Cloisters you can see the lawns of the quadrangle surrounded by modern teaching buildings. The campus has retained its collegiate atmosphere and there is a real sense of history.

Across both campuses you’ll find a mixture of classrooms, lecture theatres, laboratories, accommodation, catering outlets and shops as well as a chapel, a campus pub and nightclub, outdoor pool and sports facilities.

The main Streatham Campus itself is just a short stroll from the centre of the historical city of Exeter and within easy reach of Devon’s dramatic coastline and rugged moors – themselves a desirable location for filming.

During the summer vacation period, the University of Exeter offers overnight accommodation for visitors, perfect for filming crew and staff.
