Twyn Yr Hydd House

Margam Country Park provides the perfect backdrop for commercial photography and film. The Parks impressive architecture and scenery provides an inspirational setting for filming, from period dramas, to factual documentaries and modern feature films. Margam Country Park is an 850 acre country estate with a listed landscape comprising broad leaved, coniferous and mixed woodlands, open grasslands, Deer Park, lakes and streams.

Within the estate is Twyn Yr Hydd House. The house was built in 1890-3 by Emily Charlotte Talbot for her new land agent, Edward Knox. The 1901 Census shows that Land Agent Gordon Lipscombe was living at the house. The house forms part of a self-contained estate within a larger estate with gardens and outbuildings surrounded by walls, a ha-ha and entrance gates. The house, like Margam Castle was supplied with electricity from the estate.

The Park welcomes film and TV programme makers and is well used to hosting film units both large and small. Twyn yr Hydd can be used as a film location or as options for a short term hire for production offices. There are excellent camera positions all over the estate for filming the stunning surroundings and production managers will be happy to know that there is ample parking for unit vehicles making the Park the perfect production HQ when filming in this stunning part of Wales. The Park is in South Wales, 5 minutes from J38 M4

The Castle, Orangery and the extensive grounds mean that it has doubled for multiple locations for TV and Film over the years spanning many genres. Having access to such a unique location that has so much to offer is a gift to me as a location manager.” Tom Guy.
