Appleby Castle

Built on the site of an old Roman signalling station, steeped in history, Appleby Castle is a fantastic new location perfect for many types of Period Drama and a wonderful backdrop for TV commercials and photo shoots.

Appleby Castle has changed hands a few times sometimes occupied by the Scots and sometimes the English. It has thankfully remained in English hands for some few centuries now and boasts one of the last remaining Norman Keeps in the Country, which now houses a museum dedicated to Norman history.

Appleby Castle was the preferred residence of Lady Anne Clifford a patron of many authors and a great woman of letters.

Appleby Castle is truly a stunning location with an incomparable exterior and fantastic interiors which will be a Production Designer/Art Director’s delight.

Appleby Castle is able to accommodate senior members of the cast and crew in a great deal of comfort meaning actors can relax on ‘Hotel call’ whilst being minutes from where filming is taking place.

There is parking for Unit Vehicles making Appleby Castle an excellent production headquarters when filming in the fantastic countryside surrounding the castle.

Appleby Castle really is a ‘must see’ so for all filming enquiries and to organise a recce contact:
