Belhaven Hill School in Dunbar is only 40 minutes by car (20 minutes by train) from the centre of Edinburgh. Outside its back gate is Winterfield links golf course, leading directly on to the sandy Belhaven Bay where surfing and other water sports take place, organised through the local surf school. Horse riding is also popular, both on the beaches and in the John Muir Country Park.
