The East Anglian Railway Museum

The East Anglian Railway Museum is at Chappel Station, near Colchester, in rural Essex. We are a small country railway station, surrounded by beautiful scenery, just a short distance from London by rail or road.

We host a variety of events throughout the year, such as Thomas the Tank Engine, which can attract up to 2,500 visitors over a weekend, so we have ample parking for running a unit in our field which is adjacent to the station. We also have an Event Field and Goods Yard in the middle of the museum site which can accommodate the movement of large vehicles.

Our site includes a large, atmospheric, Victorian Goods Shed which usually houses a locomotive on the railway line running through it. In addition, we have an historic footbridge and several period offices at the station which are presented in the Victorian style but could be adapted to any historical period. We own numerous steam locomotives and rolling stock as well as other vintage vehicles from a range of historical periods.
