A warm welcome awaits you in the beautiful surroundings of Argyll’s only mainland ancient castle, with bed and breakfast facilities. Built in 1609 by “Black” Duncan Campbell and restored in 1897 by Sir Duncan Campbell 3rd Baronet of Barcaldine, Barcaldine Castle offers something truly beautiful. We take pleasure in ensuring you have a memorable stay with us at one of the finest bed and breakfast castles in Scotland. Whether you want to experience the great outdoors, walk the shores of Loch Creran, complete a filming project, hire the entire castle or simply watch the world go by – there is something for everyone.

16th century Barcaldine Castle boasts six individually styled bedrooms with opulent furnishings and artwork, which make it an ideal location for a variety of filming projects. Rated 4* Gold by Visit Scotland. ‘Black Castle’ is also home to a stunning Great Hall, Lairds Parlour, complete with open fireplaces, secret staircases, bottle dungeon, turrets, lawn with a sundial, large pebbled parking surrounding the castle, private grounds and breath-taking views over the Glencoe mountains above the shores of Loch Creran.

We are situated near the infamous Jacobite Steam Train, Glencoe, Oban, Isle of Mull, Isle of Iona and Isle of Staffa. Nearby is also Dunstaffnage and Dunoillie Castle.

For bookings of 2 nights+ we can arrange for lunches/dinners/buffets for the cast/crew via our well-known and reviewed catering team based in Argyll at an additional costs. Due to our B&B business, filming is restricted to months November-March however please contact us for availability.
