Built in 1257 by Robert de Reymes during the time of the Reivers, Shortflatt Tower is a beautiful historic Pele Tower located near rural Belsay, Northumberland. The Tower has an impressive keep with 6ft walls. In April 1305 licence was granted to crenulate the Tower, which established Shortflatt as a fortified building.
Shortflatt Tower has been in the Hedley-Dent family since 1755 and now operates as a five-star Gold Award holiday let and luxury country retreat.
Shortflatt Tower is a perfect film location, unit base for senior members of the cast and crew or production headquarters.
The recently renovated 13th Century Pele Tower is available for exclusive use and we have all the facilities you will need during your stay. There are 7 luxurious bedrooms, with beautiful bespoke marble bathrooms. As well as a drawing room, dining room and a kitchen/sitting room, which all offer opulent views of the estate and the vast Northumberland countryside. (Extra bedrooms and a large traditional kitchen can also be made available)
Fullerton Place Spa, has been renovated from the historic stable yard, and is conveniently situated on the grounds of Shortflatt Tower. With exclusive use why not indulge yourself in the authentic Hammam and many other treatments offered. We also have a hot tub, which is located in the courtyard of the Spa and is available for private use.
We offer additional accommodation in Fullerton Place Cottage. Built in the early 1800’s, this former coach house is situated in the old stable yard of Shortflatt Tower. This is a luxury cottage with 3 double bedrooms and self-catering facilities, a moments’ walk away from the spa.
